  Dr. Monik Kalia earned his doctoral degree in Psychology specialising in Criminal Recidivism in 2001 from the Panjab University, Chandigarh, India. He is a forensic, Clinical & Counselling Psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. He has been a clinician in Canada since 2001.

Dr. Kalia is also a Consulting Psychologist at the Brampton Probation & Parole, Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. As Psychologist he helps clients overcome struggles and develop better understanding of problems. He respects the unique strengths, courage and personhood that each individual brings to the therapy process. His work in the community has allowed him to appreciate cross-cultural issues as well as other factors which can act as triggers for certain types of behaviour or personality. He adopts a sensitive approach to such matters while interviewing and exposed to a wide range of clients across age groups, gender, race, language and sexuality.

Assessment and evaluation of clients' needs is essential and Dr. Kalia works closely with psychiatrists, psychologists specialising in different areas, and other agencies to determine how to best treat and care for his clients. A wide range of experience has allowed him to appreciate the variety of factors that influence an individual’s propensity for certain types of behaviour whilst accounting for social and environmental factors in addition to thorough psychological evaluation and assessment.

Dr. Kalia is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu and English.

Dr. Kalia has volunteered at the Ontario Correctional Institute, Canadian Mental Health Association, Peel Children’s Aid Society, Associated Youth Services of Peel and Victim Services of Peel.
