Treatment for Sex Offenses
Individuals who commit sexual offenses vary in their risk for recidivism. For some individuals the risk of being convicted of a new sexual crime is no different from the risk presented by individuals with no history of sexual crimes. Other individuals may present substantial recidivism risk. Specialized treatment focuses on managing risk and personal growth to ensure safety for the community at large. The primary focus of the intervention is to assist an individual create a healthy and mindful life. Group and individual therapy sessions are used to develop more socially acceptable expressions of sexuality in individuals who have been convicted or facing criminal charges. A strength-based approach is adopted to provide treatment for individuals facing sex offences.
